Jello strides out the building, carrying a bike helmet. Charlie,
clutching a clipboard plus papers, appears several steps behind.
Nearby is Gayle listening in on her mobile phone, leaning against the AUDI SPORTS CAR. Jello and Gayle salute goodbye to
each other and Jello moves on.
Charlie increases her pace to catch up with Jello.

Ok, so how many screenplays have you
written?,
CHARLIE
I don’t need to be a brain surgeon
to know when I’ve got a headache.
JELLO
Ok. Go ahead. Make my day. Tell me
what else is wrong with my script.
CHARLIE
Your second act for starters.

through-line. Dilemmas!
Rising tension! Mystery versus

Jello stops, brings Charlie to a stop. He laughs derisively then
leans in to face her, taking up a patronizing stance and tone.
JELLO
Look Charlie. I’ve read all the
books. Mckee, Truby, Vogler, you

the Cat, Hero’s Journey, whatever.
Don’t wave that second act shit at

(stops, wags a finger at her)
You think we are making a dumb B-grade movie, don’t you? Well, try
post modern, post Hong Kong, post
Tarantino!
Jello nods knowingly at her and arrogantly walks away towards a
RED VESPA ITALIAN SCOOTER. Charlie, points a REMOTE CONTROL at a
big BURGUNDY TOYOTA LAND-CRUISER parked near the scooter. The
lights flash.
CHARLIE (to herself)
Jesus. If it walks like a duck and
quacks like a duck, it’s a freaking
duck.
(calls after him)
Genre films Jello. That’s what
sells!
Jello puts on his helmet. Gets on his bike. Revs it aggressively
then does a tight little circle and comes back to Charlie.
JELLO
Genre films? What the fuck Charlie?
You know what the word genre
means? Same old, same old.
He fires up the scooter and roars away. Charlie turns to watch
him go. Behind her is the imposing Land cruiser.
